Founding Chairman's message

Welcome to the 24th APacCHRIE Conference and the 17th APacCHRIE Youth Conference in Osaka, Japan.

Since its establishment in 2002, APacCHRIE has grown into a vital organization, connecting hospitality and tourism educators throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Our annual conferences, held in various countries across Asia and the Pacific, have played a pivotal role in fostering dialogue on current issues in hospitality and tourism education and research, while providing an invaluable network for educators in the field.

I am delighted that the 24th annual conference, together with the 17th APacCHRIE Youth Conference, will be held for the first time in Japan under the theme, “Futurizing Tourism and Hospitality: Embracing New Challenges and Innovation.” The global hospitality and tourism industry is facing a host of new challenges, including environmental sustainability, the development and promotion of responsible tourism, evolving human capital dynamics, and the integration of cutting-edge digital technologies. This conference in Osaka offers an exceptional opportunity for educators, researchers, industry practitioners, and students to come together, exchange ideas, and explore innovative solutions to advance our industry.

Osaka and the Kansai region of Japan are renowned for their rich history, vibrant culture, outstanding hospitality, and world-class cuisine. I am confident that this year’s conference will be another resounding success.

Organizing an international conference of this scale is no small feat. I would like to extend my sincere thanks and deepest gratitude to the conference organizing team at Ritsumeikan Business School for their dedication and hard work, as well as to the Paper Review Team at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Hotel & Tourism Management for their invaluable support.
